How Does a Gas Water heater Work?
A gas water heater utilizes a burner that is located at the bottom of the water heater tank. The burner is fed by a local natural gas pipeline or LPG. The burner is controlled by a module that works like the thermostat on your furnace. The water heater is connected to a water intake source that delivers cold water to the bottom of the tank, and the temperature of the water activates the burner which heats the water. Hot water rises, by natural convection, to the top of the tank. When you use hot water in your home the hot water is siphoned from the top of the tank and replaced with cold water at the bottom and the cycle starts all over again
